Police allege Kingsport man had drugs in Volunteer parking lot Kingsport Times News

CHURCH HILL — A Kingsport man who was allegedly spotted in the Volunteer High School parking lot Monday morning with marijuana, pills and a syringe reportedly told police he wasn’t there to sell drugs.

Bobby Wayne Hite Jr., 20, 4176 Ridge Road, Apt. A, Kingsport, allegedly told police he was sorry and he does have a drug addiction problem.

Church Hill Police Department Officer Dustin Dean stated in his report he was completing school traffic control at Volunteer on Monday about 8:10 a.m. when he spotted a blue Mazda traveling through the school parking lot near the front of the school.

Dean observed the driver, later identified as Hite, wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and the vehicle didn’t have a school parking sticker. Dean attempted to stop the vehicle near the field house, but the Mazda continued onto Tipton Street and onto Highway 11-W, where it turned east.

“I pulled beside the vehicle as it turned left into Minor’s Market and proceeded through the parking lot before stopping,” Dean said.
